- The foregoing allowances only apply to flights operated by Air India; they do not apply to flights operated by Air India Express or codeshare flights.
- The allowance for the international sector will apply to customers who are flying on Air India’s domestic sector and then connecting to its international sector, or vice versa, on the same ticket.
- The additional luggage allowance in economy class is 20 kg (44 lb) for Star Alliance Gold members.
- Members of our Flying Returns program and elite clubs will receive extra luggage.
- Infants are permitted to use one baby car seat, carrycot, or stroller that collapses.
- A single piece of luggage may not weigh more than 32 kg (71 lb). On the whole Air India network, this regulation is in effect.
- Subject to the aircraft’s luggage restrictions and the DGCA’s standards, passengers may carry additional assistance gadgets at no additional cost.

Rules for Excess Baggage
We have you covered if you believe your luggage may weigh more than the allotted weight for your travel! You can transport luggage that is heavier or larger than what is permitted on both our international and domestic sectors by paying an extra cost.
We impose a fee on the excess baggage shown on your ticket if you bring more than the allowed amount of weight. A single bag may only weigh up to 32 kg/70 lb.
